How a Sendayan Medical Clinic Broke Its Dependence on Branded Search — and Hit 400+ GBP Calls & WhatsApp in a Single Month
A clinic with strong brand awareness has a problem most businesses would envy. But it is still a problem.
The client is a 23-hour medical clinic based in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Seremban, offering general practice, dermatology, FOMEMA medical checks, STD testing, X-ray imaging, and women’s health services. The clinic had built genuine recognition in the local community. Patients who knew the clinic could find it easily. Searches for “uniklinik sendayan” and “uni klinik sendayan” converted at strong rates — because patients were already looking for the clinic specifically.
The challenge was everything beyond that branded traffic. A patient in Sri Sendayan searching for “klinik near me” at 11pm. A patient in Seremban 2 looking for “klinik pakar kulit seremban.” A foreign worker needing a FOMEMA medical check searching “fomema medical check.” A patient researching “dermatologist seremban” before deciding where to go. These were patients the clinic could serve — but was not consistently reaching.
The goal was to fix that. Build the non-branded search presence to match the brand reputation the clinic had already earned offline.
The result: 21,372 Google Business Profile views and 3,300 GBP interactions in six months alone, with “klinik near me” appearing 1,144 times as a GBP search term. In March 2026, the GBP generated 679 interactions in a single month — over 400 of which were patient leads. The website now ranks in the top 3 for “klinik kulit seremban” and “klinik pakar kulit seremban.” And the organic search position has improved from ~14 to ~7 across all tracked keywords.
The Challenge: Famous to the People Who Already Know You
Branded search dependency is a structural vulnerability that most clinic owners only recognise in hindsight.
When the majority of your Google traffic comes from people already searching your clinic name, your digital presence is not really acquiring new patients — it is just helping existing patients find you. The growth ceiling is set by how many people already know your name. To grow beyond that ceiling, you need to be found by people who do not know your name yet.
For our client, the non-branded opportunity was significant. Sri Sendayan is a growing township. The surrounding Seremban area has substantial demand for skin care, FOMEMA checks, STD testing, women’s health services, and general medical care. But patients searching for these services generically — “klinik kulit seremban,” “fomema medical check,” “dermatologist seremban,” “klinik near me” — were not reliably finding our client in their results.
The clinic also had a critical insight embedded in its situation: for a retail-facing medical clinic operating in a suburban township, Google Business Profile visibility matters as much as — and sometimes more than — organic website rankings. A patient deciding where to go for a late-night consultation does not spend ten minutes reading website content. They search “klinik near me,” look at the map pack, and call the first clinic that appears open. The GBP is the front door.
The Strategy: Win the Map Pack, Build the Website to Support It
The strategy was built around two interconnected goals that reinforced each other.
First: dominate the local Google Maps results for high-intent, location-based searches in Sri Sendayan and broader Seremban. “Klinik near me,” “klinik sendayan,” “klinik 24 jam near me” — the searches made by patients who need a clinic now. These are won through strong GBP optimisation, local SEO signals, and a website that gives the GBP the authority it needs to rank in competitive local pack positions.
Second: build website authority across the clinic’s key non-branded service searches. “Klinik kulit seremban,” “fomema medical check,” “dermatologist seremban,” “std test seremban” — the searches made by patients comparing options or researching services before deciding where to go. These are won through well-structured service pages, content that answers patient questions, and consistent on-page SEO aligned to the right search intent.
The two goals support each other. A website with strong service pages, good technical structure, and local relevance signals helps the GBP rank more competitively in the map pack. A GBP that ranks prominently drives traffic back to the website, improving engagement signals. Neither performs at its best without the other.
Google Business Profile Optimisation
The GBP work was focused on building the signals that push a clinic into the top positions for local map pack searches.
This included service category optimisation, business description refinement, Q&A management, review response strategy, photo and media updates, and consistent NAP (name, address, phone number) accuracy across all platforms. Service-specific attributes — operating hours for the 23-hour clinic, specific medical services, and appointment availability — were configured to improve relevance for the searches the clinic wanted to appear for.
The emphasis on “klinik near me” visibility was deliberate. This is the highest-intent local search a clinic can appear for. A patient typing “klinik near me” is not comparing options or researching treatments — they are looking for a clinic to visit within the next hour. Appearing at the top of that search, consistently, is the most direct path from Google visibility to a patient walking through the door.
Service Page and Content Strategy
The website’s service pages were built and optimised to target the non-branded searches that represented the clinic’s biggest organic growth opportunity.
Five service areas received dedicated, optimised pages: skin clinic and dermatology, FOMEMA medical checks, STD testing, X-ray and imaging, and women’s health services. Each page was structured around the specific search intent of patients in Seremban and Sri Sendayan — with content that answered the questions patients were already asking, keyword alignment to the terms they were using, and clear conversion paths to make contact or book.
The content strategy extended into blog articles targeting high-intent informational searches around the clinic’s service areas. The top-performing article — a guide on the right timing for a baby gender scan — generated 764 clicks from 39,609 impressions. The pap smear guide attracted 322 clicks. The HIV test article drew 287 clicks. Each article positioned the clinic as a knowledgeable, trustworthy resource for patients researching women’s health and screening services in Seremban.
The Results: 21,372 GBP Views and Non-Branded Rankings Across Seremban
Google Business Profile (Nov 2025 – Apr 2026)

| Metric | Result |
| Profile views | 21,372 |
| Total GBP interactions | 3,300 |
| Peak monthly interactions | 679 (March 2026) |
| Peak monthly leads from GBP | 400+ (March 2026) |
| Searches showing GBP | 5,370 |
| Mobile Google Search views | 15,218 (71%) |
The headline result is 679 GBP interactions in March 2026, with over 400 of those being patient leads — calls, WhatsApp clicks, and booking actions from patients who found the clinic through Google. Over six months, the GBP generated 3,300 total interactions and was viewed 21,372 times.
The GBP search breakdown tells the non-branded story clearly:

| GBP Search Term | Appearances |
| klinik near me | 1,144 |
| klinik sendayan | 945 |
| uni klinik | 530 |
| klinik | 471 |
| uniklinik | 404 |
“Klinik near me” appearing 1,144 times is the standout number. This is the purest form of non-branded local search — a patient with no clinic preference, looking for the nearest option. Appearing for this search consistently, at the top of the map pack in Sri Sendayan, means U.N.I Klinik is now capturing patients who previously would have found a competitor.

| Skin clinic Seremban | 766 | 31,172 |
| STD testing | 409 | 98,343 |

Combined with the FOMEMA page (76,825 impressions), dermatology (66,799), and X-ray (57,815), the service pages are collectively building a broad, multi-service search presence across Seremban that goes well beyond what a branded-only strategy could achieve.
Why GBP Matters More Than Most Clinics Realise
The most important insight from the our campaign is the relationship between the website and the GBP — and why neither performs at its best without the other.
Many retail-facing businesses — and medical clinics are retail businesses in the sense that patients choose them based on location, convenience, and trust signals they encounter quickly — underestimate the GBP as a lead generation channel. They treat it as a listing rather than a conversion asset.
For a 23-hour clinic in a suburban township, the GBP is often the first and only thing a patient sees before deciding to call. A patient searching “klinik near me” at 10pm on a weekday is not reading a blog post. They are looking at the map pack, checking which clinics are open, and calling the one at the top. That decision happens in seconds.
Ranking consistently at the top of the map pack for “klinik near me” in Sri Sendayan is therefore not a vanity metric. It is a direct patient acquisition channel. The 1,144 times the GBP appeared for “klinik near me” — and the 679 interactions in March 2026 alone — represent real patients making real contact decisions.
What makes the GBP rank in competitive local searches is not the GBP alone. A well-structured website with strong local SEO signals, credible service content, and proper technical foundations gives the GBP the authority it needs to appear prominently. This is why the two elements of the campaign — website SEO and GBP optimisation — had to be built together.
Key Takeaway
The medical clinic had a strong brand and a branded search presence to match. What it needed was a non-branded one.
SEO, local SEO, GBP optimisation, and service page content strategy built that presence. The GBP now generates 3,300 interactions over six months — peaking at 679 in March 2026, with over 400 patient leads in that month alone — from searches like “klinik near me,” “klinik sendayan,” and “klinik” rather than the clinic’s own name. The website ranks top 3 for “klinik kulit seremban” and “klinik pakar kulit seremban.” Half a million search impressions from Malaysia in 16 months.
For medical clinics operating in suburban townships where local SEO and Google Business Profile visibility are the primary patient acquisition channels, this case study makes the case clearly: a strong brand name is a foundation, not a ceiling. The patients who do not know your name yet are still out there — searching “klinik near me” at 11pm, looking for whoever shows up first.
The question is whether that is your clinic.
