How a Singapore Orthopaedic Clinic Grew Non-Branded Organic Clicks by 46% in Five Months — Without Google Ads

Ranking for your own clinic name is relatively straightforward. Ranking for what patients actually search when they do not know you yet — that is the harder problem.

For the client, a multi-specialist orthopaedic clinic operating across several locations in Singapore, the challenge was not a lack of traffic. The clinic already had an established web presence and was receiving a reasonable volume of organic clicks. But almost all of it was branded. Patients who found them through Google were largely people who already knew the clinic name.

Non-branded searches — terms like “orthopaedic surgeon singapore,” “hand surgeon singapore,” or “orthopaedic specialist singapore” — were largely out of reach. These are the searches that matter most for new patient acquisition. They come from people actively looking for care, but with no prior loyalty to any specific clinic.

That was the gap Hypercharge was brought in to close.

The Challenge: Traffic Without Discovery

Having organic traffic is not the same as having discoverability.

A clinic that ranks only for branded searches is essentially being found by people who would have called them anyway. The real growth opportunity lies in reaching patients who are searching for a solution — not a specific name.

Before the campaign, the website was in that position. The website was live, indexed, and functional. But it was not structured or optimised to compete for the high-value, high-intent keywords that prospective patients use when beginning their search for orthopaedic care in Singapore.

The competitive landscape in Singapore for orthopaedic and specialist medical searches is also particularly demanding. Large hospital systems, aggregator directories, and established specialist groups all compete for the same search space. Breaking into the first page for non-branded terms requires more than a well-designed website — it requires a deliberate, phased SEO strategy.

No Google Ads were running. The goal was to build organic search performance that could sustain itself over time.

The Strategy: A Phased Approach Built on Solid Foundations

Hypercharge began the engagement in November 2025 with a structured three-phase approach. Each phase was designed to build on the one before it.

Month 1: Comprehensive Audit

The first month was spent entirely on understanding the current state of the website.

A full audit was conducted covering both on-page SEO and technical SEO. This included reviewing page structure, heading hierarchy, metadata, internal linking, crawlability, indexing issues, site speed, mobile performance, schema markup, and any technical errors that might be limiting how Google could process and rank the site.

For a clinic of this size — with multiple specialist doctors, treatment pages, location pages, and a growing blog — there were many moving parts to assess. An audit of this depth is not about ticking boxes. It is about understanding where the site stands before deciding where to go next.

Month 2: Keyword Research

With the audit complete, the second month focused on keyword research and building keyword strategy.

This was not a simple exercise of finding popular search terms. The research had to account for search intent, keyword difficulty in the Singapore market, the clinic’s existing ranking positions, content gaps, and the specific treatments and specialties the clinic offered.

A particular focus was placed on non-branded commercial and informational keywords — the terms patients use when they are searching for orthopaedic care without a specific provider in mind. Terms like “orthopaedic surgeon singapore,” “hand specialist singapore,” “shoulder specialist singapore,” and condition-specific searches such as “tendonitis wrist treatment” were mapped to existing and new content opportunities.

This keyword foundation became the blueprint for everything that followed.

Month 3 Onwards: Optimisation and Content

From month three, execution began in full.

On-page optimisation was applied across the site’s key pages — treatment pages, doctor profile pages, and location pages. Title tags, meta descriptions, heading structures, internal links, and content were refined to align with the keyword strategy and to better signal relevance to Google.

Technical SEO fixes identified in the audit were implemented to remove any barriers to crawling and indexing.

Content became a consistent part of the strategy. Three blog posts were published per month, each focused on orthopaedic topics relevant to Singapore patients — condition explanations, treatment guides, recovery advice, and local health information. The content was built to serve two purposes: educate patients searching for answers, and reinforce the site’s topical authority in orthopaedic care.

The Results: 46% More Organic Clicks From Singapore in Five Months

By April 2026, the results from five months of active work were measurable.

Comparing the last three months of the campaign against the previous three months:

MetricPrevious 3 MonthsLast 3 MonthsChange
Organic clicks (Singapore)2,9684,345+46%
Impressions (Singapore)119,925206,365+72%
Average position28.519.7Improved by 8.8 positions
WhatsApp clicks528/month
Phone calls69/month
Online appointments (Plato)101/month

The improvement in average position — from 28.5 to 19.7 — is particularly significant. Moving from the third page of search results toward the second and first page changes everything. Pages ranked in positions 20 to 30 attract almost no clicks. Pages on the first page begin to attract real, consistent traffic.

The Standout Win: First Page for “Orthopaedic Singapore”

The most notable ranking result from the campaign was achieving first-page visibility for “orthopaedic singapore” and related non-branded search terms.

This is not a niche keyword. It is one of the most competitive orthopaedic search terms in Singapore, contested by major private hospital brands, established specialist groups, and aggregator platforms that have spent years building domain authority.

Reaching the first page for this term — and related searches including “hand surgeon singapore,” “orthopaedic surgeon singapore,” and condition-specific queries like “tendonitis wrist” — represented a meaningful shift in the clinic’s discoverability among patients with no prior knowledge of the client.

The GSC data shows impressions for these non-branded terms growing sharply over the tracked period, with click-through beginning to follow as positions improved.

Why This Worked

The campaign worked because it followed a logical sequence that many clinics skip.

Most website owners want results immediately. The instinct is to jump straight to publishing content or making surface-level changes. But for a multi-doctor specialist clinic competing in Singapore’s healthcare search environment, that approach rarely moves the needle.

Starting with a proper audit meant the team understood what was limiting the site before making any changes. The keyword research phase ensured that every piece of content and every on-page change was directed toward the right targets. The execution phase then had a clear foundation to build on.

The results also reflect the nature of SEO in competitive healthcare markets. Five months is a relatively short timeline for the kind of position improvement and impression growth seen here. The phased approach — audit, research, then execution — helped compress that timeline by avoiding wasted effort.

Key Takeaway

The client came to Hypercharge with traffic but not discoverability. Patients who knew the clinic could find it. Patients who did not know it largely could not.

After five months of structured SEO work with our SEO agency — a comprehensive audit, focused keyword research, and consistent on-page and content execution — the clinic grew Singapore organic clicks by 46%, impressions by 72%, and moved from an average position of 28.5 to 19.7. First-page visibility for “orthopaedic singapore” and related non-branded terms followed.

All of this without a single ringgit spent on Google Ads.

For specialist clinics in Singapore and across the region, the lesson holds: branded traffic is a floor, not a ceiling. The real growth comes from being found by patients who are searching for care — not for you specifically, but for exactly what you offer.
